The relief for the new altar is being prepared by New Guild Art Studio. The image is of a pelican feeding her young. It is an ancient symbol used to communicate the mystery of the Eucharist.

It is said that a mother pelican, if she hasn't any food with which to feed her young, will feed them with her own flesh; just as Jesus nourishes, strengthens and sustains Christians with His own Most Holy Body and Blood in the Eucharist.
